Light Years Ahead, the story of the PH Lamp by Louis Poulsen 1994
Original PH Sketch, pp 123
Pic 2 shows a sketch pad sheet presumed to be PH's first draft of the lamp, showing 3-shade constructions and a diagram showing the projected movement of light.
The light source is thus visibly softened to a glow, similar to that of an oil lamp and becomes glare-free, ideal for domestic use. Pic 5 shows a series of screen printed diagrams commissioned by PH that show the different quality of light and shadow emitted from a variety of fixtures. Pic 4 is the 600mm diameter 1929 catalogue entry for the PH 6/5 Lantern.
