ABOUT ROSE UNIACKE
Rose Uniacke is a designer and gallerist whose diverse and wide-ranging business has spiralled rapidly outwards from its starting point, in response to a growing, international demand for her unique and unrivalled signature aesthetic.
With her hands-on training in traditional restoration and her passionate interest in making, Rose’s design expertise embraces every aspect of a project, from the bones of a building, the shape of a space and the way it receives light, through exquisite furniture, art and objects, and down to the smallest details of furnishing and decoration.
The studio runs large-scale projects, both at home and abroad, and Rose personally oversees every detail from conception to completion.
From buildings to contents was a small step and in 2010 Rose Uniacke Editions was launched; a collection of furniture, lighting and accessories made to Rose’s own designs.
Textiles came next and in 2017 the Rose Uniacke Fabric Collection was created. Custom-dyed cloth from small mills in Rose’s distinctive colour palette were developed; beautiful felts and velvets, linens and calicos, suitable for upholstery, furnishings, wall coverings and curtains. For outside, fabrics were made from recycled bottles, each new addition to the line, created with an eye to sustainability.
In 2021 Rose launched an environmentally friendly range of paint, to compliment the fabric collection.
The brand continues to add to its range and to grow in every direction. Now the business has three Pimlico Road shops: the Editions shop, selling furniture both antique and modern; a fabric and paint shop; and a shop full of beautiful belongings, household objects, and luxury gifts.
Alongside the design practice, and of enormous importance to Rose, is the brand’s highly respected arm of antique furniture and objects. The sourcing and restoring of antiques and 20th century collectible furniture has always been part of Rose’s practice but this too has been steadily growing in international stature and reputation over the years.
Rose’s expertise and understanding of furniture is a unique combination of hands-on practise, alongside an eye for quality and a deep reservoir of knowledge. She is widely respected as a trusted expert by those clients who wish to build serious collections.
Over the last five years, in celebration of the business’s growth and diversity, Rose has produced two books with Rizzoli: Rose Uniacke at Home and Rose Uniacke at Work, both sumptuously illustrated with hundreds of colour photographs.
She has a wide and growing portfolio of projects, both at home and internationally, working on everything from town houses and apartments, to listed manor houses and global company headquarters, even luxury yachts. Rose takes pride in the personal care of her clients, and greatly values her relationships which, over repeat commissions, have blossomed into friendship.
Nothing at Rose Uniacke stands still. Always, a new offshoot, a new flowering, is on the point of springing into life; a natural response to Rose’s insistence that the house, and everything it contains, should be as alive, as beautiful, as the world in which it sits.
