London Craft Week 2024
For London Craft Week, Young Weaver of the Year, Lara Pain, was in residence to weave specially commissioned fabric, used to produce hand-made limited edition cushions.
With each fabric meticulously handcrafted, Lara created something wholly distinctive while her in-store presence allowed customers to experience the creative process and understand the story behind the maker.
Known for a love of textiles, accompanied by a deep appreciation for craft, Rose Uniacke has worked collaboratively with Lara to develop two unique fabrics inspired by colours from the Rose Uniacke permanent fabric collection. The new fabrics are a considered blend of cotton, wool, mohair and silk, woven to create a unique texture that holds a richness of character.
Beautifully understated and in keeping with Rose Uniacke’s signature aesthetic, these fabrics highlight both a love of craftsmanship and colour.
With an enduring commitment to championing traditional skills and craftspeople, in 2021, Rose Uniacke partnered with the Heritage Crafts Association. In 2023 Lara Pain won the inaugural Heritage Crafts Association 'Young Weaver of the Year Award', sponsored by Rose Uniacke. To continue the designer's support of the association, all proceeds from the London Craft Week cushion collection will be donated to help promote and safeguard endangered artisanal and craft skills in the UK.
The limited-edition cushions are available in-store and online, in two colours; Pale Pink and Pale Blue and two sizes; 50 x 50cm and 30 x 50cm.
