THEATRE CHAIR AND OVAL TABLE

We are delighted to welcome the new Theatre Chair and Oval Table in Natural Oak to the RU Editions range of furniture. 

Launched in 2010, RU Editions is an ever-growing collection of beautifully designed furniture, lighting and accessories. Built to last, elegant functional and distinctive, RU Editions are made by the finest contemporary craftsmen to be used and treasured for generations to come.

Inspired by an early 19th Century Theatre Chair from Rose’s own collection the distinctive “barrel” backrest hails from an age before folded auditorium seating where individual chairs were intimately arranged in halls and theatres for public performances and events.

Rose’s version, for RU Editions enlarges the “barrel” backrest, widening the seat to more modern proportions and reengineers the frame using 21stCentury technology.

 The new chair, handcrafted from solid European Oak is available in either Natural or Ebonised finishes, the traditionally upholstered seat offering unparalleled dining comfort, though it is equally suited for use as a desk chair or occasional piece. 

Designed to complement  Rose’s Oval Oak Table, the elegant rounded silhouette is reminiscent of the 'spoonback' of the mid-nineteenth century and the pleasing Art deco curves of the late 1920s.

Handmade from solid European Oak, elegant yet  sturdy, the Oval Oak Table comfortably seats six, though larger versions can be custom built on request. Based on an antique original the striking stepped ziggurat plinth with its smoothed oval table top is strongly reminiscent of the streamlined lines and geometric shapes of Art Deco, undercut by the organic muscularity of hewn oak.
