Takahashi Kaishu

Biography

Kaishu Takahashi was born in Kanazawa, Japan in 1905 where he resided until he enrolled in the Tokyo School of Fine Art and then the Teiten. Over almost a century Takahashi mastered the Zogan and Kaga metalworking techniques, specialising in bronze casting and soft metal inlay.

During his career Takahashi exhibited in various prestigious exhibitions like the World Exposition in both Belgium and Chicago where he won a gold medal for his showcase. The most notable of Takahashi's awards however was his designation as an Important Intangible Cultural Asset for Ishikawa Prefecture.
