Product Description
In the neo-classical manner with three small drawers above two larger drawers all framed with columned side pillars the parquetry decoration and reeded pilasters terminating in graduated brass sabot feet
France, circa 1790
This piece shares a number of similarities with English furniture of the period, interesting in itself as the tastes and styles of the two nations were rather different at the the time. The fluted column sides are very similar to the works of the later Gillows of Lancaster and London and would not be out of place if seen on a robust early 19th century English mahogany chest of drawers.
