Majorelle Louis
Biography
Classically trained by his father in historicist furniture it was a chance meeting with Emile Gallé, a leading light in late 19th century glass and furniture making, that pushed his work towards the new aesthetic (of Art Nouveau). From 1894 onwards and his showing the at the Exposition d'Art Décoratif et Industriel Lorrain his previously restrained furniture began to take on a new, more fluid appeal culminating in his showing at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, to wild acclaim.
