About this piece
Designed for Nordiska Kompaniet
Of bold construction and character, with heavy wood frame and wide armrests, using solid stained pine sections with large mortice and tenon joints
The Berga model first appears in NK's customer registers in 1938, the same year Axel Einar Hjorth finished as chief designer for the company. Who actually designed the Berga model cannot be fully established with confidence but was most likely a collaboration between David Rosen and Hjorth. The model shows clear traces of Hjorth's Lovö and summer house collections from earlier in the decade
